Forte' Incorporated president Glenn S. Phillips is the author of the new book, Nerd-to-English: Your Everyday Guide to Translating Your Messages, Your Business, and Yourself.

The book examines the everyday gaps in communication we all suffer, even when we are unaware. It comes at the topic from a unique perspective in a conversational approach that includes experiences with clients, projects and personal challenges.

The book points out that we are all experts, or "nerds," about something, even non-technical topics, be it business, football, quilting, history or our pets and children. Because of this focus on our interests and passions, we often fail to communicate well with others that do not share our focus.

A focal point is an explanation of exactly how we all fool ourselves and, in turn, how this makes it very difficult to understand others or their perspective on important topics.
